The closest location for urgent care is the Fairview Hospital, 15 miles north in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Bradley International Airport is 40 miles southeast in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

The closest place to grab a bite to eat is the Southfield Store, three miles north. This old-fashioned roadside store turned coffee bar/cafe sells breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner meals.

A Jewel in a Sea of Pines

Positioned deep in a forest of pines, Windermere Lake is a prime location for outdoor living. The lake spans 100 acres with smooth, pristine waters.

Only open to non-motorized watercraft, the lake is continuously calm and clear. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are all popular with residents. Other pastimes on the water include fishing, swimming, and birdwatching.

Outdoor Excursions

Campbell Falls State Park and Umpachene Falls Park are both less than 10 miles away, featuring waterfalls, swimming areas, and picnic tables.

The Mount Washington State Forest is located only 20 miles west. The 4,000-acre park features 30 miles of hiking trails and an overlook from the summit of Alander Mountain.

Many other preserves and forests surround Windermere, like Sandisfield State Forest, Cookson State Forest, Granville State Forest, Tolland State Forest, and East Mountain State Forest.

Visit Springfield, Massachusetts

If you're looking to step out of the wilderness and visit a historic city, Springfield, Massachusetts, is only 44 miles east!

The Zoo in Forest Park is a not-for-profit zoo that houses over 200 native and exotic animals. It features a diverse array of mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and amphibians.

While you're there, check out the beautiful 700-acre park the zoo is nestled in. Designed by the father of modern landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted, many consider Forest Park the jewel of Springfield.
